How to Setup NerdQaxe++ and NerdOCTaxe Solo Bitcoin Miners in Australia (Step-by-Step Guide)
Any solo Bitcoin miner purchased from Solo Bit Mining Australia will come with an instruction manual but if you encounter difficulties, we have created the below 5-minute walkthrough.
Note: You must have a 2.4GHz network. Some 5GHz networks allow you to change or suspend to access the 2.4GHz network.
Essential: Have your BTC public wallet address ready.
- Power up your miner with the supplied power adaptor.
- Wait until you see the setup screen which will show a WI-FI network for you to connect to with a mobile phone.
- Once connected to the network you will be directed to the web console. Click on ‘settings’.

- Enter your WI-FI name (SSID) and the password (leave the hostname as is).

- Further down you will see the primary and fallback stratum pool. Your miner comes pre-configured with a primary pool but this can be changed to suit your preferences. For more info on ‘pools’, please see this section of our website. Set a fallback in case of an outage or fault with your primary pool. (If changing your pool, the password is generally just an ‘x’).
- The username is your BTC public wallet address. For more info on ‘wallets’, please see this section of our website.
- We recommend leaving all other settings as factory default unless you are an advanced user.
- Don’t forget to click ‘save’ before you reset or the settings will not be retained and you miner will not connect to your network.
- After restarting, your miner should boot and start hashing straight away.
IP Address: To access your miners web portal and configuration, enter the IP address of your miner into your phone or computer that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The IP address is shown at the very top middle of the miners display screen.
Pools: ausolo.ckpool.org is a good solo pool for Australia with low latency. If your miner solves a block, 100% of the reward is yours (minus pool fees). This is a not-for-profit pool and charges 2% of any win which goes towards maintaining the pool. You can view the pool stats by clicking here; https://ausolostats.ckpool.org/.
Multiple Devices: If you have multiple devices, you can distinguish them by setting a name at the end of your BTC public wallet address. Place a full stop “.” then a name for your device with no spaces.
Firmware: It is generally not necessary to update the firmware unless there is a large release or you are experiencing issues with your miner. We recommend this for intermediate to advanced users.
Community Support and Information: Facebook and Reddit groups are a great way to learn and educate yourself on solo Bitcoin mining, there’s generally a supportive culture and people willing to help solve any challenges.
